Too much caffine and not enough water. Caffine is a diuretic and therefore causes dehydration in the skin. When skin is dehydrated it makes fine lines and wrinkles much more prominent. To prevent dehydration and to create hydrated plump skin as well as an overall healthier appearance it is recommended that you drink half of your body weight in water. Tanning. By now I am sure that most people realize that tanning causes premature aging but did you realize that just going through your day without sun protection can also cause wrinkles. Between being near windows, being outside and even certain indoor lighting can have the same effects in smaller doses. In order to prevent this from happening I recommend wearing at least a 20 spf daily over your moisturizer and under your makeup daily and if your going to be outside for a longer stint make sure to up your spf to at least a 30 and reapply every couple of hours. Use of harsh soaps. Typically alot of body soaps contain a detergents know as sulfates. Sulfates cause the suds and squeaky clean felling. Unfortunately, that feeling also means that you are striping the skin of the beneficial oils and hydration as well as breaking down the skins natural barrier which will not only cause dehydration but also inflammation which is at the fore front of aging. To prevent the breakdown of your barrier use gentle cleansers, hydrating serums to hydrate and a moisturizer to lock it all in. Too much sugar. I'm sorry to all the sugar fans out there but there is a direct corralation of too much sugar and premature aging and it is called glycation. Glycation causes AGEs or advance glycation end products in your skin which break down collagen and elastin as well as cause inflammation in the skin which of course will all create those unwanted wrinkles. To prevent this from occurring there are a few things that can be implemented in including using targeted skin care that combats these free radicals in the skin such as our Counter AGE serum and Glco-guard moisturizer. As well as cutting back on sugar which we mentioned but also other contributers such as red meat, fried foods and processed foods. Lastly, missing your routine facials. Your facials are like a routine maintenance for your face, in the way that getting your oil changed is for your car or getting your teeth cleaned is for your teeth.
